Although it’s true that money cannot buy happiness, Bukayo Saka’s recent contract extension at Arsenal may enable him to amass the largest collection of cars in sport.
The Gunners decided on Tuesday to keep Saka at the Emirates Stadium longer even if they did not win the Premier League this season. The England winger’s basic pay is reportedly £200,000 per week, but performance incentives may push his pay to as much as £290,000 per week, or £15 million annually.
Saka may potentially earn around £60 million throughout his four-year contract, sufficient to purchase superyachts, opulent mansions, or an array of private aircraft. Alternatively, if the 21-year-old so chooses, he may attempt to get Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to sell him their complete collections of cars.
For the previous 15 years, the two biggest football players have dominated the Ballon d’Or poll, splitting the 14 awards given out since 2008. For the most part of that time, Messi and Ronaldo have been at the top of football’s wealthiest list, amassing enough cash to purchase the finest cars available.
And despite having a more reserved character than Ronaldo, Messi is said to own the more expensive mountain of automobiles, estimated to be worth £30 million. Nevertheless, the Queen of Argentina is said to have outbid Ronaldo in 2016 to purchase a 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti for £25 million, and that automobile is responsible for the great bulk of that.
Though just four of that model are thought to exist, there is disagreement about who the true owner of the Spider Scaglietti is. A £2 million Pagani Zonda, a £200,000 Mercedes SLS, a £118,000 Audi R8 Spyder, and a Toyota Prius that the World Cup champion once got for free are among Messi’s other vehicles.
If it weren’t for that unique Ferrari number, Ronaldo’s arsenal of whips would have surpassed that of his longtime adversary, but it’s still enough to make most of his contemporaries shudder. The Portugal star has many Bugattis and spent £8.5 million for his Centodieci in October 2021. He also owns a £2.15 million Chiron and a £1.7 million Veyron, which he has had since 2016 and 2017, respectively.
After touring Maranello in 2020, Al-Nassr’s talisman seems to have a fondness for Italian models as well, as seen by the £1.4 million he spent to purchase his Ferrari Monza. This is on top of the estimated £17 million worth of Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, and Mercedes whips that are now in his garage.
Saka has risen to a new level of income, even if it is doubtful that he would attempt to spend his enormous salary in this way. Gabriel Jesus, who used to make just £265,00 a week, is now paid more at Arsenal and is eager for more success in north London.
