Arsenal’ Left-Wing Problem: Zinchenko, Kiwior and Tomiyasu Not Good Enough – Arsenal Needs To Replace Them

This season, Arsenal generally has a relatively solid defense. They are the team that concedes the fewest goals in the Premier League. The “Gunners” did not play too badly in the Champions League before being defeated by Bayern Munich with a total score of 3-2 after two matches.

If including David Raya, 4/5 positions in the Emirates Stadium home team’s defense more or less bring peace of mind to the fans. However, the worry is still there when the North London representative often concedes goals from situations originating on the right wing in the direction of the opponent’s attack.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, and Takehiro Tomiyasu are players who can take on the left-back position, but all three of these names have different advantages and disadvantages. More importantly, they cannot maintain the stability needed to play well from week to week.

The past week has been a series of disasters for Arsenal. They were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. A few days later, the “Gunners” were defeated by Aston Villa with a score of 0-2 in the Premier League before losing 0. -1 in Germany and had to sadly say goodbye to the most prestigious arena in Europe.

3/4 of the most recent goals conceded by the home team at Emirates Stadium were all caused by the fault of the player playing the left-back position. Unfortunately, coach Mikel Arteta tried to change fate by using all three names mentioned above, but all of them disappointed the Spanish strategist.

In the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals taking place at Allianz Arena, Arsenal played well until Joshua Kimmich headed the ball into the net in the 63rd minute. Before that, Takehiro Tomiyasu was easily surpassed by Leroy Sane. The person who should have retreated to support Japanese defender Gabriel Martinelli also did not complete his task well.

After what happened at the Emirates about a week ago, Mikel Arteta clearly understood the danger of the star wearing the number 10 shirt for Bayern Munich. That’s why he chose the Japanese player, who has a much better defense than Oleksandr Zinchenko or Jakub Kiwior.

But even if he predicted that, the Spanish military leader could not prevent it from happening. Simply because his students are not qualified or classy enough to keep up with the steps of Leroy Sane or Joshua Kimmich.

The season is not over yet for Arsenal. But if the home team at Emirates Stadium wants to continue dreaming of winning the Premier League championship, they need to overcome the fatal weakness in the left wing as soon as possible. Jurrien Timber is not a bad suggestion, but the Dutch player needs more time to return to the starting lineup.
