Declan Rice says a move to Arsenal looks more exciting than Man City as the two clubs compete to become Premier League champions.
Arsenal and Man City were both keen to sign Declan Rice from West Ham last summer, but the Gunners secured the 1999-born player’s signature in a deal worth £100m.
Pep Guardiola was keen to welcome the then West Ham captain to his grandfather’s team, but Rice decided to move to north London to join Mikel Arteta’s team. Rice has quickly integrated, he is coach Mikel Arteta’s irreplaceable choice in the midfield.
Rice’s contributions help Arsenal compete for the Premier League title with Man City. The Gunners are 1 point ahead of the Blue Man but have played 1 more match. The English midfielder has no regrets about his transfer decision.
When asked if he could play alongside Rodri instead of fighting Man City for the title with Arsenal, Rice told The Athletic: “I know. But this project seems more interesting and that’s why I chose to come to Arsenal, because I believe I can achieve big things here.”
Arteta’s team continues the Premier League title race with a match against Bournemouth this weekend, before meeting MU at Old Trafford and then hosting Everton in the final round. Meanwhile, Man City will face Wolves this weekend before clashing with Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham.
