Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £45 million in July 2022, is in his second season with the club. However, his time with Mikel Arteta’s team has been disrupted by knee problems, resulting in only eight goals in 33 appearances this season.
Reports from The Athletic suggest that Jesus’ future at Arsenal is uncertain, with the club willing to consider offers for the 27-year-old at the end of the season. His contract with the Premier League leaders is set to expire in 2027.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is actively seeking to bolster their striker options this summer, with several notable names linked to a move to the Emirates. Among those are Ivan Toney from Brentford, Victor Osimhen from Napoli, and Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting.
When questioned last month about Arsenal’s pursuit of a new forward, Gabriel Jesus responded, “They already know if they want to, so maybe this question is not for me. My job is to work hard, train diligently, refine my skills, and contribute to Arsenal’s victories on the field, aiming to win trophies. Speculation is inevitable, not just here but at many clubs. People always want to speculate about who the club will sign.”
Meanwhile, Arteta commended Jesus’ professionalism after the striker was omitted from the starting lineup for Arsenal’s Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich last month. “Players can be upset with me, and that’s acceptable, but they need to maintain a professional approach,” Arteta remarked. “It’s my responsibility to make those decisions, and it’s not a reflection on the individual but rather the player. Gabriel demonstrated exactly the mindset we expect from him. His determination was evident in his eyes; he was ready to make an impact. He thrives on competition and exhibits tremendous resolve. Every player will acknowledge that sometimes there’s disappointment, but they must deal with it. It builds character, and Gabby possesses the resilience and fortitude to always strive for improvement.”
