Give Me Sport page commented on 5 players who can take Marcus Rashford’s position at Manchester United in the new season.
There are currently a lot of rumors about Marcus Rashford leaving Manchester United after 9 years since graduating from Carrington Academy in 2015.
In complete contrast to Rashford’s highly productive season when he contributed 40 goals in 57 appearances in all competitions, the English international has not had the same impact this season.
Sources from The Athletic said the Red Devils leadership is ready to listen to offers for Rashford. There have been links with a move to Arsenal, while Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid in the summer could prompt Paris Saint-Germain to recruit Rashford to replace the French superstar.
If Man United receive a fee of £70 million from selling Rashford then they can recruit one of five other players who can take his place in that squad.
Rafael Leao (AC Milan)
AC Milan’s Rafael Leao appears to be Man United’s clearest replacement if Rashford leaves Old Trafford this summer. The 24-year-old Portuguese player is on par with the Three Lions striker in terms of speed, technique and power from the left wing. Leao has directly contributed to 26 goals this season in all competitions.
According to Calciomercato, the Red Devils were targeting the striker ahead of the January transfer window and the rumors could start to swirl again next summer.
Michael Olise (Crystal Palace)
Regardless of whether Man United can make this deal or not, Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is still one of the most sought-after players by many teams this summer. Although injuries have limited the young French player to only starting 8 matches in the Premier League this season, 6 goals and 3 assists still prove his inherent talent.
According to The Mirror, Crystal Palace has offered £60 million for Olise and Man United’s new investors INEOS are among the teams showing the clearest interest.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli)
Taking the world by storm in 2022/23, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was a key factor in taking Napoli to the Scudetto after 33 years in his first season since his £10m move to Rubin Kazan.
Although Napoli has struggled this season, the 23-year-old Georgian striker is still one of the brightest players in Europe with 10 goals and 6 assists after 31 matches in Serie A.
Kvaratskhelia’s transfer value has skyrocketed but that hasn’t stopped the Red Devils, although it seems likely that Napoli will extend his contract and will instead look to sell Victor Osimhen in the near future.
Pedro Neto (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Since the beginning of the 2020/21 season, Pedro Neto has missed a long period of time due to injury, but his brilliance this season with 2 goals and 9 assists in 19 matches at the Premier League makes Man United still want to add the Portuguese winger to their squad.
Raphinha (Barcelona)
Displaying great acumen and tactical thinking, Raphinha offers an insight into how a traditional winger plays. The tendency to play wide, in addition to creating quality crosses, could suit Man United, who are having difficulty creating for new striker Rasmus Hojlund.
While Alejandro Garnacho develops as a more direct attacker, Raphinha’s qualities could bring balance to Erik ten Hag’s forward line.
