On the morning of May 11, Kylian Mbappe announced that he would leave PSG at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
The French striker informed fans of his future decision through a video on his personal page.
“This is my last year at PSG. I will not renew my contract and end my adventure in a few weeks. The match against Toulouse on May 13 will be the last time I play at Parc des Princes” , Mbappe said.
“At the moment, my emotions are quite mixed. Over the years, I have been very honored to be part of the biggest club in France. I want to thank coaches Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Christophe Galtier and Luis Enrique as well as all teammates and logistics staff,” the striker born in 1998 added.
Also in the video, Mbappe said he needed to find a new challenge, after 7 years with PSG, and sent special affection to the fans.
Immediately after Mbappe posted a video announcing his departure, transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the deal between the French captain and Real Madrid was completed in February. Real will wait until the final of this season’s C1 Cup. ended and officially announced the “blockbuster” rookie.
Accordingly, Mbappe will join Real on a free basis. This player’s salary at the Bernabeu is said to not be too high. This is one of Mbappe’s moves to affirm his love for the Madrid club because previously, he was offered an extension by PSG, with an income of nearly 100 million euros per season.
Mbappe came to PSG on loan from Monaco in 2017, with a mandatory buyout clause worth 155 million euros at the end of the 2018 season. In Paris, this player scored 255 goals in 306 matches, assisted 108 times and is the greatest goalscorer in PSG history. Mbappe won 6 Ligue 1 championships and was runner-up in the 2020 Champions League.
After being contacted many times by Real, Mbappe decided to “break up” with PSG. Last summer, Mbappe was asked to buy by Al Hilal for nearly 300 million euros. However, the 26-year-old player refused this transfer and patiently completed his contract with PSG to join Real Madrid.
