French newspaper Le Parisien reported that Kylian Mbappe and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi had an argument. The two had a big argument before PSG lost to Toulouse on May 13.
President Nasser Al-Khelaifi was angry when Mbappe did not thank him in the club’s farewell video. This is the video that Mbappe sent to fans, confirming he will leave PSG this summer. In the video, he thanked the players, coaches, and fans, but forgot about President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the most powerful person on the team.
It’s unclear whether Mbappe did it intentionally or unintentionally, but he made his boss mad. Parisien newspaper revealed that the argument was very tense. The two sides exchanged words when Mbappe responded with a heated attitude. Perhaps he doesn’t need to respect Mr. Al-Khelaifi because the two are about to go their separate ways.
Mbappe has been with PSG for 7 years, creating a prosperous period for this club with consecutive domestic titles.
He scored 255 goals for PSG, always showing impressive performance to bring home 6 championships in 7 years. Even when Messi and Neymar appear here, Mbappe is still the team’s number 1 striker.
But partly because he could not conquer the European Cup, Mbappe decided to leave. Most likely he chooses to move to Real Madrid.
Mbappe’s move made PSG unhappy, even though President Al-Khelaifi had repeatedly stepped in to keep him. Proving that the Parisian club did not hold a farewell ceremony for Mbappe, a group of fans attacked the striker, calling him an ungrateful person.
But Mbappe also has reason to be disappointed. Firstly, he fulfilled the commitment between the two sides, when he extended the contract in 2022, staying until 2024 before finding a new challenge. Second, he refused a loyalty bonus of up to 80 million euros. Mbappe believes that PSG can use that money to buy a striker to replace him.
