SportBILD recently revealed that Arsenal jumped into the Florian Wirtz deal, to compete with other giants like Manchester City, Barcelona or Bayern Munich.
Regardless of whether Arsenal wins the Premier League this season or not, they will still enthusiastically participate in the summer transfer window. Coach Mikel Arteta still has many positions that need strengthening. That’s why they are keeping an eye on Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.
SportBILD recently claimed the Gunners want to sign the 21-year-old attacking midfielder, alongside the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.
CaughtOffside also has information about the deal, including the amount of money needed by the husband to convince Leverkusen to come to the negotiating table.
The report claims Leverkusen is not willing to sell Wirtz before the 2024/25 season, but offers of €150m (£129m) “could change their mind”.
This is an absurdly expensive price and not many teams in Europe can spend like that in the summer. Man City is a team that can splash the cash if they let Kevin De Bruyne go to Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, whether Arsenal will spend much money to bring in a midfielder who tends to step on Martin Odegaard’s feet is a question mark.
