David Raya has been photographed modelling Arsenal’s new goalkeeper uniform for next season, implying that his permanent move from Brentford will be revealed soon.
Raya, 28, joined the Gunners on loan for the remainder of the season in August and swiftly replaced Aaron Ramsdale as Mikel Arteta’s No.1. The Spain international went on to win the Premier League Golden Glove award, keeping 16 clean sheets in 31 matches during his first season in north London.
However, Arteta recently cast doubt on Raya’s future, suggesting that Arsenal would only decide whether to exercise their £27 million option to buy at the conclusion of the season.
“Those are conversations for after the season. “We’ll take a look at where we are,” the Gunners’ manager said. “There is no doubt that we are extremely pleased with David and everything he has contributed to the club and team. But those decisions are made by everyone at the club, and we’ll see.”
Fortunately for Arsenal fans, there appears to be little need for concern. Raya can be seen wearing Arsenal’s yellow home goalkeeper uniform for the 2024-25 season in a promotional video published Thursday.
The 28-year-old is shown with teammates Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, who are donning the new outfield home kit. Adidas has changed Arsenal’s crest for 2024-25, replacing the club’s iconic shield-shaped insignia with a plain white canon.
The red shirt is trimmed in white and blue, and the look is completed by white shorts and red socks. Arsenal will be looking to raise a trophy in their new uniforms, a something they have not accomplished since 2020.
The Gunners still have a small chance of winning the Premier League on Sunday. However, title challengers Manchester City would have to drop points.
On Sunday, Arteta’s team hosts Everton, while City hosts West Ham. With 27 league wins, Arteta believes the Gunners have not only achieved development this season, but also history.
He said after defeating Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday to ensure that the title race goes down to the wire: “We know we need a result – we need to do our thing in the last game – but today we really wanted to knock that door and open that box of dreams to live the last day of the season in front of our people with the opportunity to win the Premier League.”
“That is something we will do together, and I am very excited to do so with these players and staff. It’s 27 Premier League wins, the most in the club’s history in 130 years. “That is not progress; it is history.”
Arsenal Women will wear their new kit for the first time on the pitch when they face Brighton in the WSL season’s last match on Saturday, May 18. It is now available from Adidas and the Arsenal web store.
