Declan Rice was seen “throwing a strop” following Arsenal’s final match of the season. The Gunners concluded their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday.
They did not, however, succeed in winning their first league championship since 2004 because Manchester City defeated West Ham as well.
Consequently, after the game, the Emirates Stadium had a somber vibe.
The Arsenal players stayed on the field as a show of gratitude to their supporters.
In the meantime, Mikel Arteta, the manager, gave a post-match speech to the supporters.
TV cameras saw a disappointed Rice, appearing severe and with his arms crossed behind Arteta, just before the speech.
Rice was immediately recognized by fans, who wrote on X, “Declan Rice is having a strop at the Emirates.”
“I regret choosing Arsenal over City,” said another.”I regret choosing Arsenal instead of City.”
Another quip from a third fan said, “Won more trophies at West Ham.”
Although Rice had been linked to a move to City, he had previously joined Arsenal from West Ham in the summer.
He made appearances in all 38 of the Gunners’ league games, tallying nine assists and seven goals.
However, City finished the season two points ahead, so it was insufficient to win the championship.
Arsenal supporters were devastated by Pep Guardiola’s team’s early advantage; now, in order for the Gunners to catch up to their title rivals, they would need to surrender points.
Later on, supporters were tricked into believing West Ham had tied the score, which led to celebrations before they realized City was still ahead.
