Reputable journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed the Red Devils’ plan to appoint a captain.
With dozens of disastrous records in the Premier League this season, Erik ten Hag is at risk of having to leave the hot seat at Old Trafford.
Sources from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that the Dutch captain is expected to leave Man Utd this summer, possibly after the FA Cup final.
The team’s upper management wants to find a more suitable name to lead the club in the future. Di Marzio added that the Red Devils are currently considering a number of possible alternatives to Ten Hag, including Kieran McKenna, Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi.
De Zerbi has now confirmed his departure from Brighton, while Pochettino has also just been fired by Chelsea. Therefore, if one of the two names mentioned above is approached, Man Utd will not need to pay contract compensation fees.
As for McKenna, he just had a quite successful season when he helped Ipswich Town get promoted. Man Utd wants to reunite the former club assistant because they think his style is suitable for the team’s development direction.
