Arsenal to Sell Thomas Partey and Pursue New Midfielder, Reveals Fabrizio Romano
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will sell midfielder Thomas Partey and aim to acquire a new midfielder in the summer of 2024.
Thomas Partey, who returned from injury and performed well towards the end of the season, has been plagued by numerous injuries since joining Arsenal. Despite Mikel Arteta valuing the abilities of the 1993-born player, the team needs a more consistent and regularly contributing player to compete for major trophies.
Rumors suggest that Arsenal plans to sell Partey and reinvest in a new midfielder. Juventus and teams in Saudi Arabia have shown interest in the former Atletico star, and Arsenal could potentially earn £15 million from the deal. The Gunners are eyeing Everton’s Amadou Onana or Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz as potential replacements.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated, “There are several players on Arsenal’s midfield upgrade list. Douglas Luiz is one they have always admired, but negotiating with Villa has never been easy. It’s very likely they will bring in a new midfielder, as Thomas Partey is set to leave.”
With Aston Villa securing a spot in the Champions League next season, Douglas Luiz might remain at Villa Park. Consequently, Amadou Onana emerges as the most probable target for Arsenal. The Belgium international would be a quality addition to the Arsenal midfield, providing support to Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. However, the Emirates Stadium side would need to spend at least £55 million to secure the deal.
