‘I dream’: Real Madrid forward Rodrygo discusses future amid Manchester City transfer links

Rodrygo has ruled out a summer move to Manchester City, insisting that he wants to stay at Real Madrid indefinitely.

City had been linked with a sensational move for the Brazilian, who scored when Real Madrid eliminated the Blues from the Champions League in April. He was quoted as saying that City were the best team in the world, fueling speculation that he could be leaving the Bernabeu.

With Kylian Mbappe set to significantly increase competition for places at Real, Rodrygo’s reasons for considering leaving grew – but he clarified his comments and reiterated his desire to stay in Madrid.

“When they asked if he would continue indefinitely, I said yes, but there is no way to know. “I still have a contract,” he said, per AS. “I dream of staying here, and I am certain that it will happen. If I can go on like this for the rest of my life, I will, until they no longer want me.”

Before winning another Champions League title with Real, Rodrygo stated, “To be very clear, I am very happy at Real Madrid.” Every day, I live a dream, and it never occurs to me to leave the club of my life. “We still have history to make [in the Champions League final].”

Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Rodrygo’s future with the club during his pre-match press conference. “Rodrygo is… a very important piece for us,” he stated. “He has been very important, he is, and he will be in the future, we have no doubt about that whatsoever.”
