Chelsea Eyes Napoli’s Osimhen: Two Stars Offered in Exchange
Reports from the British press suggest that Chelsea is exploring a strategic move in their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Under the ownership of Todd Boehly, Chelsea has poured over £1bn into the transfer market but still lacks a standout goalscorer. In light of this, the Blues have set their sights on Osimhen to bolster their attacking lineup.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti speaking to ArenaNapoli, Chelsea has floated a proposal involving the exchange of two players along with additional funds to secure the services of the Nigerian striker. Galetti indicates that negotiations are ongoing, with Chelsea keen on including players such as Cesare Casadei or David Fofana to sweeten the deal, despite Napoli’s preference for a cash-only transaction.
Galetti further suggests that personal terms with Osimhen are nearing completion, signaling a potential breakthrough in negotiations in the coming weeks.
Osimhen, who extended his contract with Napoli until 2026 last December, boasts a release clause reportedly set at €131m. However, conflicting reports suggest Napoli may consider offers closer to €120m for the prolific striker.
The 25-year-old Nigerian joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a hefty €77.5 million fee. His impactful performances played a pivotal role in securing Napoli’s 2022/23 Serie A title, with 26 goals in 32 appearances. Although his form has dipped slightly this season, Osimhen remains a coveted asset in the transfer market.
