Jude Bellingham explains the new way to celebrate England’s first victory in EURO 2024.
Jude Bellingham scored the opening goal for England in their 1-0 Euro 2024 victory over Serbia, and he celebrated in a unique way to honour the Three Lions’ backroom team.
Bellingham’s first-half goal was enough to propel England to victory in their first EURO 2024 match. However, the 20-year-old midfielder’s performance was far more impressive than his goal.
Bellingham is a constant source of positive energy on the field, moving quickly and eager to create opportunities for teammates. He is also a boxing threat, as his goal clearly demonstrates.
What was even more appealing following the game was Bellingham’s new goal celebration. Fans have grown accustomed to the 20-year-old celebrating by standing up straight with his arms raised toward them, and they respond in kind. After scoring against Serbia, Bellingham celebrated with his teammates as usual, but he also took a moment with Trent Alexander-Arnold to celebrate.
Both players knelt down and covered each other’s faces, creating a mysterious gesture that piqued many fans’ interest.

Following that, he and Alexander-Arnold introduced a new celebration.
After the game, the former Birmingham midfielder explained the reason for his celebration with Alexander-Arnold. He said the celebration was for England’s backroom staff, who work hard behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly for the players.
“This is a celebration for logistics workers who do so much every day and they don’t get as much recognition as we do,” Bellingham stated. “But we appreciate them a lot and it’s important that we keep that atmosphere throughout the tournament.”
Description of the game “Wolf”
Bellingham explained that his decision to cover his face with his hands was inspired by the card game “Wolf,” which he frequently plays in his spare time. “When we played Wolf, one of the staff liked that face so this celebration is for the group playing Wolf.”
This game debuted in England around the time of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This card game, which requires deception and strategic thinking, is based on Dimitry Davidoff’s 1986 role-playing and deduction game, “Mafia”. It pits a small group of astute individuals, or “wolves,” against the ignorant majority, also known as the villagers. Each group then attempts to outwit the other to win.
“There were probably 16 or 17 of us playing Wolves, and it was a great way to pass the time. “It also helped bond the team,” captain Harry Kane once stated. “When they put the wolf card in, you have to start lying, which is difficult, so I believe I am a better villager than a wolf. “There are definitely some people who are better than me at deceiving people.”
Declan Rice continued, “It’s about being the best liar. The villagers must smell the wolf, and the wolf must lie and claim that he is not a wolf. There’s a lot of teamwork and fitness training.”
The game appears to have followed the England team to this year’s EURO, and they hope that it will continue to foster team cohesion and play a role in helping them win the European Championship.
