Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence after breаking his nose in a horrific collision during France’s Euro 2024 victory over Austria.

The French captain was bleeding profusely from the nose after colliding with Austrian defender Kevin Danso while attempting to retrieve the ball.

He was taken to the hospital for surgery following the match, which France won 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Maximilian Wober.

Medics have suggested that the 25-year-old could be sidelined for at least ten days, if not longer, following surgery on a broken nose, casting doubt on his Euro 2024 campaign.

Mbappe, on the other hand, attempted to find humour in his misfortune, taking to social media hours after the game had ended.

Mbappe took to social media to ask his followers to give him ‘ideas for masks’

In the post he wrote: ‘Any ideas for masks?’ – It appears that he may need to wear a protective mask if he returns to the field during the competition.

Fans responded to his post, suggesting that he wear a ‘ninja turtle’ mask.

This could be a reference to France teammate Marcus Thuram joking before the game that Mbappe resembles a ninja turtle.

Thuram, an Inter Milan player, was on media duty and speaking to the press ahead of the Austria match when a journalist incorrectly referred to him as ‘Kylian’.

Thuram joked with the reporter, saying, “Kylian?” I’m more attractive than Kylian. I don’t resemble a ninja turtle.’

Meanwhile, former France team doctor Fabrice Bryand told L’Equipe that the timeframe, which would rule out the new France captain from participating in the group stage, was at least ten days.

The French Football Federation confirmed on Monday night that the player, who was seen leaving the stadium in an ambulance, was undergoing surgery at the University Hospital in Düsseldorf.

France coach Didier Deschamps stated that his new captain, Mbappe, ‘didn’t get off lightly’ following the collision with Danso.

He is with the medical staff. His nose was undoubtedly badly Һit. We need to check, but it appears to be quite complicated, which is unfortunate for us tonight.

Julien Laurens reported that Mbappe is in the hospital with a broken nose. It is unclear whether he will need surgery or if his participation in the rest of the Euros will be affected.

Mbappe was eventually allowed to leave in the final stages of normal time, and Olivier Giroud replaced him.

Medics have suggested that the 25-year-old may be sidelined for at least 10 days by surgery on a broken nose, and possibly even longer.

Despite having two good opportunities, the 25-year-old failed to score against Austria.

France’s next game is on Friday against the Netherlands. On June 25, they will face Poland to complete their group stage schedule.
