The first half was surprisingly dramatic
In the second match of Group A, coach Julian Nagelsmann still used the best squad. However, Hungary showed a huge surprise after losing to Switzerland. In the 2nd minute, Manuel Neuer struggled to prevent Roland Sallai’s escape. It wasn’t until the 11th minute that the German team had their first response, when Andrich launched a beautiful volley. However, Bolla played excellently to successfully block the header.
Minutes later, the German team gained complete control of the match. They created a lot of turbulence towards Hungary’s goal. The extreme pressure of the Tank caused the away team’s defender to make a mistake in the penalty area. Just waiting for that, Ilkay Gundogan successfully stole the ball, then passed it to Jamal Musiala to hit Peter Gulacsi’s net, opening the score 1-0 for the home team.
In the 25th minute, German fans had a heart attack when Szoboszlai took a free kick and sent the ball flying into the A corner, forcing Neuer to fly as hard as he could to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Szoboszlai once again had a chance to score well, but Jonathan Tah played excellently to save the home team’s goal.
Minute 45+1, Neuer blocked Orban’s header but created conditions for Roland Sallai to kick the ball into an empty goal. Unlucky for the Hungarian national team, when the goal was denied by VAR because Orban and Sallai were both offside.

In the 54th minute, Gundogan shot the ball extremely hard, forcing goalkeeper Gulacsi to try his best to block it. After that, the away team’s goalkeeper continued to successfully block Toni Kroos’ kick.
The German team’s efforts to stop the goal were effective in the 68th minute. From Maximilian Mittelstadt’s escape down the left wing, the ball was passed into the middle for Ilkay Gundogan to launch a diagonal kick, causing goalkeeper Gulacsi to fumble. The second goes into the net to pick up the ball.
For the remainder of the match, the Tanks continued to dominate. However, Hungary also tried hard to find an honorable goal. In the 88th minute, Neuer made a mistake, giving Martin Adam a chance to finish. However, Gundogan cleared the ball right on the goal line to keep the net clean for Germany.
In the end, coach Nagelsmann and his students defeated Hungary 2-0. With this result, Germany will continue to lead Group A with 6 absolute points. They also officially own the first ticket to the 1/8 round of Euro 2024.
