Manchester United are reportedly speaking to Alvaro Morata’s representatives as they weigh up a bargain move for the former Chelsea forward. Morata is currently representing Spain at Euro 2024 as their captain and scored in their opening game against Croatia.
The 31-year-old remаins tied down to Atletico Madrid until 2026 but could seemingly return to the Premier League this summer. United are keen on snapping him up, according to Turkish outlet Sabah, with the Red Devils already discussing a potential move for his signature.They are not the only club in the race, though, with AS Roma, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Fenerbahce also said to have opened talks with Morata’s representatives. He would be a very affordable signing for any of those clubs as a result of his £10million release clause.

Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, is reportedly willing to offer Morata a contract worth around £73,000 per week. However, it is unclear whether United will be willing to make a more appealing offer in order to secure Morata.
The veteran forward was at Chelsea from 2017 to 2020 before joining Atletico Madrid and becoming one of their most important players. Last season, he contributed 21 goals and five assists across 48 appearances in all competitions.United are reportedly prioritising the acquisition of a new striker, with Erik ten Hag eager to add more firepower to his squad. They have yet to complete any summer transfers, but could benefit from a move for Morata, who would bring valuable experience as well as goals.
The Red Devils are rumored to have a number of other targets, including Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee. United have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners for his signature, with AC Milan shifting their focus elsewhere.Ten Hag has already stated that he will look to improve his squad by signing a new striker, a midfielder, and another defender to fill the void left by Raphael Varane’s departure.Last month, the United manager stated: “We need to bring in a striker to work alongside Rasmus Hojlund.” I also hope we can sign another central midfielder and a replacement for [Raphael] Varane. Then I believe things will be very good for next season, with the caveat that the players remain fit.”
