Darwin Nunez ‘offered’ to Barcelona by agent – but it’s not that simple!

According to reports in Spain, Barcelona is interested in signing Darwin Nunez, whose agent is said to have ‘offered’ the Liverpool No. 9 this summer.

Nunez has made headlines for days after deleting Instagram posts and traveling to Barcelona during the Reds’ brief break between games.

They go on to claim that the Uruguayan’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered them his client if the Pole is offloaded.

Lewandowski has insisted that he does not want to leave, but with the 35-year-old’s wages set to rise, Barcelona is said to be considering offloading him to alleviate financial pressures.

And this applies to any links formed between Barcelona and Nunez, with the Spanish club unlikely to be able to meet Liverpool’s transfer fee demands at the very least.

According to Lewis Steele of The Mail, there is “no indication” that Liverpool is in a hurry to part ways with their No. 9 after only two seasons.

As their deal with Benfica could be worth up to £85 million, the club is unlikely to recoup that if they sell this summer, with Barcelona unlikely to match it.

Nunez reportedly considered joining Barcelona in 2020 before signing with Benfica, and like many South American players, he likely had childhood ambitions to play for them or Real Madrid.

In short, these links are unlikely to end anytime soon, but Barcelona faces significant financial constraints if they are to seriously consider Nunez, who is under contract at Anfield until 2028.
