Manchester United are expected to undergo a major overhaul over this summer’s transfer window, with Marcus Rashford one of the players linked with an exit from Old Trafford
With Erik ten Hag’s new contract now signed, sealed and delivered, Manchester United can start to focus on recruitment.
The Dutchman has signed a new two-year deal, cementing his position as Red Devils manager. Work will now begin to boost his squad after a disappointing season, with attack and defence seen as a priority.
To fund those moves though, a numb
er of players appear to be set for a departure. Donny van de Beek is an obvious candidate to leave, though Marcus Rashford has also been linked with an exit.
United have now been cautioned against allowing the Englishman to depart though, as they turn their attention to PSG star Manuel Ugarte. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news.
Rashford warning sent
Former Manchester United star Mikael Silvestre has warned the Red Devils they would be making a mistake if Marcus Rashford was sold. Rashford has been linked with an exit after a difficult season, but Silvestre believes he still has a part to play.
“Letting Rashford go would not be the right decision because you need to go in the market and find someone better than Marcus, if that’s the case. If you find that player he will be very expensive,” he said.
“Marcus is a senior, experienced Mancunian from the academy. I think he wants to stay. The manager likes him. I just hope Marcus bounces back this season.”
United have stepped up their pursuit of PSG star Manuel Ugarte with Bayern Munich now out of the race. Ugarte only joined PSG last summer from Sporting Lisbon but fell down the pecking order towards the end of the season.
That has put him in line for a departure from the Parc des Princes, with United’s interest gathering pace. According to reports from France, Bayern’s move for Joao Palhinha has cleared the way for the Red Devils.
Ugarte had been a potential target for the German giants, but signing Palhinha has put any deal for the Uruguyan on the backburner. That has opened the door for United, who now consider him to be an ‘important target’.
