Sky Sports journalist Peter Smith was delighted to see centre-back William Saliba’s performance against Portugal.
Early this morning, France and Portugal played a tight game. The second Quarterfinal match of EURO 2024 ended 120 minutes of official play without any goals being scored.
In the nerve-wracking penalty shootout, Didier Deschamps’s players played better. They made all five shots correctly. Meanwhile, João Félix was the only one who missed a shot on the Portuguese side.
Saliba played confidently against Portugal.
To keep the famous Portuguese strikers silent for 120 minutes, it was the great contribution of center-back William Saliba. He had 8 clearances, 2 blocks from opponents’ shots and 1 accurate tackle.
The Arsenal player was likened to a Rolls-Royce by Sky Sports reporter Peter Smith.
Smith said: “Saliba hasn’t established himself in the France defence for long. But I can tell you he will be one of the first names in the squad in the next few years.
“He looks like a Rolls-Royce out there, ” Smith added.
