On X, Fabrizio Romano has updated regarding the target the Gunners are pursuing.

Arsenal have been active in the early stages of the summer transfer window, opening talks with centre-back Riccardo Calafiori after his impressive performances at EURO 2024.

Calafiori is edging closer to joining Arsenal.

Having established their position and having a convincing project, Arsenal easily gained the upper hand in negotiations with the Italian player. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Emirates team now wants to close the deal soon. Specifically, he shared on X:

” Arsenal are working to complete the deal for Riccardo Calafiori next week as the final round of negotiations has been scheduled. Arsenal are confident that Calafiori wants to move to the Emirates, he is interested in the Gunners’ project and has agreed to sign a contract until June 2029 for €4m/season.

The deal is getting closer.”

Some newspapers revealed that Arsenal will have to pay more than 50 million euros to Bologna to convince the Italian representative to release the player. Of which, FC Basel will receive 50% of the total fee.
