New signing Leny Yoro made his debut when Man Utd won 2-0 against Rangers in a friendly match.

Leny Yoro just moved to Man Utd with a transfer value of up to 62 million euros in the middle of last week. The 18-year-old French player was used by coach Erik Ten Hag in the starting lineup of the “Red Devils” in a friendly match with Rangers at Murrayfield (Scotland).

It didn’t take long for Yoro to adapt, he made a strong impression in his Man Utd debut, playing steadily in defense alongside veteran Jonny Evans with impressive saves. Not only that, Yoro also showed his ability to launch attacks from the back, an element that Man Utd’s defense did not do well last season.

Notably, midfielder Jadon Sancho was also in the starting lineup. The English player had a conflict with coach Ten Hag last September, after which he was dropped from the “Red Devils” first team and sent to train with the youth team. Sancho was loaned to Borussia Dortmund in the second half of last season and has been facing many rumors of being sold, but it seems he will make peace with Ten Hag.

“For me it was unbelievable,” Sancho told MUTV after the game. “It was a really good game from the whole team. I’m happy with my performance and hopefully we can continue like that.”

Ten Hag fielded a host of first-team regulars including Andre Onana, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jonny Evans, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo. However, Antony, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford were all absent for various reasons.

Amad gave Man Utd the lead in the first half with a left-footed shot into the bottom corner in the 39th minute and the 1-0 score remained until the two teams entered the break.

Ten Hag decided to replace all 10 outfield players at half-time, bringing on a host of youngsters in the second half. It was one of them – Joe Hugill – who doubled United’s lead with a powerful strike in the 70th minute. United eventually won 2-0.

This is Man Utd’s first win in the opening stage of the season, after losing 0-1 to Rosenberg on July 15.

Next, Man Utd will travel to the United States to continue playing friendly matches, on July 28, the “Red Devils” will face Arsenal. Coach Ten Hag expressed his joy when the club had two important contracts with Yoro and Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee. However, at present, only Yoro is training with Man Utd, Zirkzee is being given a rest after attending Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.
